Prapò

MGA Prapò: the vineyard that pre-empts the season

Our Prapò vineyard, a small plot of just 0.6 hectares, is situated in the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba. Situated at between 300 and 320 metres above sea level, it is one of our lowest altitude vineyards. This position makes it one of the first to benefit from the milder temperatures in spring, contributing to the early development of the vines. Easterly exposure, which is characteristic of many of our vineyards, ensures the gradual and healthy ripening of the grapes, preserving their quality and reducing the need for treatments.

Soil, the root of tradition

The distinctive character of Prapò comes from its calcareous, tufaceous soil, which is part of the Lequio Formation, the oldest in the Barolo area. This soil, made up of alternating layers of silt and cemented sand, conveys particular elegance and precise tannins to the wine. Our vines in this land parcel are an average of 30 years old, and this contributes to the density and concentration of the fruit.

Prapò: the picture of a traditional Barolo

The MGA Prapò produces a Barolo that perfectly interprets its terroir. It is an elegant, traditional wine with an intense garnet colour. Its bouquet reveals scents of dried flowers, rose and liquorice, with a delicately oriental profile and hints of sweet spices. The palate is warm and full, supported by thick tannins and a good, vibrant acidity.

Barolo Prapò is a profound wine that knows how to combine potency with a soft, sensual structure and a long, lingering finish
