Perno

MGA Perno: a Nebbiolo from the lands of Monforte

While our winery is located in Serralunga, part of our heart is in Perno, in the municipality of Monforte d’Alba. We obtain the only Barolo we produce outside Serralunga from the MGA Perno, a choice that allows us to explore a different nuance of Nebbiolo. We have 1.8 hectares of vineyards that have their very own character, quite different from those we cultivate in Serralunga.

The soil that makes it unique

While the soils in Serralunga are clayey, the soil in Perno is based on Diano sandstone, a predominantly sandy and very dry geological formation. This composition gives the vineyard a unique personality, far removed from the more compact soils of Serralunga. The sandy nature of the soil gives us a wine that, while maintaining the strength of Barolo, acquires a distinctive elegance and finesse.

Our Barolo Perno: elegance and complexity

We see Barolo Perno as a pure expression of its terroir. We vinify and age it in the same way as all our other Barolo wines, letting the differences in the terroir do the talking.

The result is a wine distinguished by silky, creamy tannins that gradually give way to notes of flowers, berries and figs. Always personal, clearly interpreting its terroir, with excellent drinkability and good potential for longevity.
